  • 2 teaspoons coarsely ground cumin seeds

  • Prepare the marinade by mixing tamarind with 1/2 cup of water to form a slurry, then strain it into a mixing bowl.
  • Add the remaining marinade ingredients (excluding the fish) to the tamarind water and mix well.
  • Coat the fish pieces thoroughly with the marinade and let them marinate for 30 minutes.
